Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a natural form of healthcare that was developed in the United States in the late 1800’s.
It is a holistic approach to health, and osteopaths aim to address the root causes of pain through detailed examination of the entire body and consideration of other relevant factors such as lifestyle, medical history and injuries. Osteopaths draw from a range of hands on techniques to select those most suitable for the patient on the day, including soft tissue massage, joint articulation and manipulation, muscle stretching and gentle release techniques such as craniosacral therapy.
They are also trained to recognise conditions that may require referral for medical treatment, and liaise with other healthcare practitioners to deliver appropriate and effective patient management.
Osteopathy may help with a variety of conditions, including:
Back pain
Headaches, neck and shoulder tension
Joint and muscle strain
Pain during and after pregnancy
Sports injuries
After surgery pain
Sciatica
Arthritic pain
Frozen shoulder and tennis elbow
Repetitive strain injury
